Unlikely in the entry hall or the
reception, the pieces of art in meeting rooms should not attract
too much attention and so distract the present people, who gather
there for a different reason. The aim is to complete the room's
atmosphere for visitors to feel relaxed and comfortable there.
That is why textile pictures or tapestries can be recommended
here, creating with their specific surface a feeling of warmth
and peacefulness. People, who are being comforted by the surroundings,
which is known and pleasant to them, can easier overcome the
initial aloofness to an unknown environment. The topics of these
pictures should therefore not be directly related to the company's
business as such, and can be much more general. Yet, they should
perfectly fit into the surrounding environment. |

It is a common rule that in a pleasant environment
people are in a better spirit, and consequently deliver a higher
amount and quality of work. For this reason we should not forget
to create high-quality office atmosphere. The aim here is not
to calm people and evoke a relaxing feeling, but on the contrary,
to slightly provoke and evoke a need of activity. From here,
however, it is just a very small step towards distracting people's
attention, which is in no way wanted. Defining this line is
very difficult, putting high demands onto the artist. It differs
also in accordance with a type of business: The situation within
a bank varies from that of a professional soldier. Everyone
is stimulated by different things, and has a different order
of values. |
