The aim of this area is to make
incoming people feel as comfortably as possible. Here
they notice the first image of the company. Let's not forget
that the first impression is very often the most important
one, influencing the course of the following meetings. It
is a normal practice that visitors announce themselves
at a reception, get entered into a visitor's
book and then are seated until the right person from the company
comes to meet them. For this purpose there are usually
sofas and armchairs in entry halls, determining two important
moments: A look at the place, where visitors
will be waiting, and the view from the waiting
area. The view at the waiting area with the sofa
should evoke a feeling of comfort and calm
- and so actually invite people to sit and rest here.
This waiting area is usually one of the first
places seen after entering a company's building/office,
it should play a connecting role between the outside
world and the company itself.

The place, which guests see when seated in the waiting
area, is a different case. Such a place should be oriented in the
direction of the expected host. As the time for which visitors will
be viewing the scene from their place is likely to be quite long,
it is worth to think carefully about its contents. It is necessary
to catch the visitor's attention for example with an unusual complex
piece of art. This art work should fulfil the following points:
- The work should be lucid enough even in the distance
from the siting area.
- The composition of the whole scene should not be
disturbed by the operation of the reception. After a few minutes
guests with feel to be somehow "forgotten".
- The dominating piece of art should be at least
symbolically connected to the company. It can be, for
example, an artistic vision of the company's business, the redominant
colour of the work can be in the shade of the company's
colour, or an artistic expression of the company's logo.
If an attempt to engross a new visitor's attention
succeeds, it can in a very essential way influence the visitor's
future relations to the company. It is, therefore, not possible
to present here ready pieces, which could fit into your company's
image.
